Join Us for a Day of Impact: September 28th
The Fisheries Resource Volunteer Corps (FRVC) invites you to participate in our annual National Public Lands Day event. This year, we are focusing on a critical environmental effort—Recreational Rock Dam Removal on the East Fork of the San Gabriel River.
Event Details:
Date: September 28th
Time: 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Why Rock Dam Removal? Recreational rock dams, although often built for leisure purposes, can have detrimental effects on local ecosystems. They disrupt water flow, affect the natural habitats of aquatic wildlife, and can impede the spawning processes of native fish species. Our project aims to restore these waterways to their natural state, ensuring the health and biodiversity of our forests.
What to Expect: Volunteers will receive hands-on training on the day of the event. You will learn how and why these dams impact the environment and the correct methods for safely dismantling them. This project is not only a chance to help the environment but also a great opportunity to learn about aquatic ecosystems and the challenges they face.
Get Involved:
Volunteers Needed: Whether you are a seasoned FRVC member or a newcomer eager to make a difference, your participation is crucial.
What to Bring: Dress in comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing. Lunch will be provided.
