Actively Recruiting Volunteers 🎣

Join the Fisheries Resource Volunteer Corps (FRVC) for a patrol on the Santa Ana River! Our patrols are focused on monitoring the trails and waterways in the Santa Ana River, including East Mountain Home Creek and Forsee Creek.

As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to assist with river monitoring, clean-up and engagement with the public. These patrols play an essential role in keeping our forest and tributaries healthy for all to enjoy.

The physical difficulty of the patrols varies. The Santa Ana River is rated as easy and involves hiking over flat and rocky terrain at an elevation of 6,300'. East Mountain Creek is rated as strenuous and involves hiking in a steep canyon over rocky and slippery terrain. Forsee Creek is rated as easy to moderate and involves hiking on a stream trail with little incline up to one mile.

The FRVC locker is located at the Mill Creek Work Center at 34701 Mill Creek Road in Mentone. Access points for the patrols include a small turnout on Hwy 38 for East Mountain Home Creek and a turnout on Hwy 38 for Forsee Creek. The Santa Ana River patrol has easy access via Seven Oaks Road and Glass Road off Highway 38.

Please note that there are no angler survey boxes on the Santa Ana River, East Mountain Home Creek, or Forsee Creek. The standard California Department of Fish and Wildlife daily bag and possession limit of five fish applies on these waterways.

We welcome all volunteers who are passionate about preserving and protecting our natural resources. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the importance of invasive species removal, water quality monitoring and overall stream conservation. Sign up now to be part of our team and make a difference in your community!

Please note that this patrol is actively recruiting volunteers to join before scheduling the next patrol date and subject to changes, please get in touch with the patrol leader before attending.
